Biography of  John Costen,  CPA, CFP

I established my accounting practice in 1982 and offered integrated financial and accounting expertise. I advised many corporations and individuals on how to resolve and plan for complex tax and financial issues and comply with various tax, accounting, and financial requirements. Plans were developed for individuals and corporations to minimize taxes and maximize profitability and operating efficiencies.  In addition, I was involved with contract negotiations and strategic planning. In some cases, I was involved at the inception, growth and eventual sale of corporations.

I have developed and presented seminars on various taxation, financial planning and business advisory topics for my clients, the public, Mohawk College and the Certified General Accountants Association of Ontario.

In 2011 my  accounting practice was sold to another CPA and I retired. During retirement I have worked part time in various professions including Retirement Planning, Estate Executor, Business Advisor and Business Coach.  Volunteer activities include, Past Treasurer of my Church, Past President of a local business association, Mentor to many new businesses and a CPA student, volunteer activities at a local Legion Branch.
